Shabbat weekend in Ramat Beit Shemesh

What a weekend. I stayed with the Rodbells this Shabbat. They have such an awesome place. I davened at the G'RA shul were I met some wonderful people. Had dinner at the Jason's with the Yom Tovs, lunch at the Rodbell's and Seudat Shlishi with the Shubs. After lunch I went to the Naiman's to see Channah Garfinkel's sister and nephews Akiva (newly engaged) and Yona. Had a great time there.

Two funny stories.

First. I got to Tachana Merkazit to catch the 417. When I got off the bus a cab driver was calling out for riders to RBS. So I took it. I got in with 3 other yeshiva bocherim. I asked them about the 417 and they said the last one left about 30 minutes before I got there. It was a miracle that a cab was out there waiting with people that were going to the same place.

Second. I didn't bring my tefillin with me. So during Seudat Shlishi (the 3rd Shabbat meal) was asking my hosts about Sephardi minyanim there. He said he was sure I could find one and borrow a pair of tefillin. Well while we were benching one of his kids comes down and says someone needs people for a Sephardi minyan upstairs. So we went up and made minyan and while I was davening my host asks the guy if he had tefillin I could borrow. The guy said yes. Turns out that I recognized the guy. He goes to the Shehabar Sephardi Center in Ir HaTiqa. It's amazing how things fall into place.

To end the trip I ate lunch with the Rodbells, Chernins, and Millers. Okay...now I gotta go learn. Later.
